Abstract	The purpose of this study was to identify the influencing factors that cause stress in nursing students in the first year of an associate degree nursing (ADN) program. Implementing a qualitative study design, a triangular approach to data collection included qualitative methods of interview, observation, and focus group discussion. The primary purpose of the study design was to provide of a thick, rich description of the experiences of students in their first year of nursing school and to describe the influencing factors that cause stress in first-year ADN students.
